Issue No 404
25th May 2007
Dear Friends of Crescent,
Next term, as some of you may already have guessed, Mrs Forth will be taking maternity leave. She is understandably delighted about this and the rest of staff are excited for her. As something of a perfectionist she was naturally concerned about what might happen to her class in her absence – she tells me that she is ‘thrilled’ that Mrs Byrne has agreed to cover for her. Mrs Byrne enjoys our complete confidence and knows the children well already so there should be a seamless transition with no disruption to Class III’s education.
Mr Stuttard tells me that we have collected a little over 6000 Computers for Schools vouchers from Tesco’s. Thank you to everyone who has brought some in; news of what they be used for will be announced later in the term.
Congratulations to Jack Fisher who had a very successful day last Sunday at the Bilton Silver Band Junior Contest. He played percussion - drums and xylophone – and won 1st prize in the 10 years and under section and 3rd prize in the 14 years and under section. He also won the deportment prize. There were 13 entries so he has every reason to feel pleased with himself. I am sure that the Bilton Silver Band would be delighted to welcome any other of our brass players into their ranks.
In assembly on Friday, I was pleased to award :-
Deportment Badges
Ben Pearson, Matthew Smith, Luke Armstrong, Jessica Armbrister, William Hedderwick and Jack Fisher.

Garden Working Party
We have had one response to our newsletter request and have decided to set up a working party to start to plant our wild life garden.
Anyone, who would like to come, with forks, spades, plants, seeds etc. please see Mrs Gove or Jim Lowe. We would like two or three kind adults and up to six children, of any age.

School Council
Summer Uniform
I would like all children in their summer uniform after half-term, please. That is dresses for the girls and shorts for boys in Years 4 and below.
Nursery News
Our aim this week was to develop the nursery grounds in such a way that there would be equal status given to both indoor and outdoor curriculum. The grounds became a playing and learning environment where a wide range of activities could take place.
The children experienced sand, water, shaving foam, jelly and play dough and designed and operated a “car wash”.
Sadly, we lost our tadpoles at the weekend and the children said a prayer at a dignified ceremony.
Finally, I would be grateful if you would send a named sun-hat into Nursery, please.
I hope you and your family have a relaxing break next week.
