Issue No 414
12th October 2007
Dear Friends of Crescent,
Last Monday I was pleased to be able to present certificates and rosettes to children who had passed their classical ballet exams, all with Merit.
At Primary Grade: India Green, George Longmore and William Hedderwick.
At Grade 1: Emily Cooper, Emily Fowkes and Annalise Graham.
At Grade 2: Georgie Colbourne and Evie Lowe.
At Grade 3: Isobel Pagendam.
Our congratulations to them all.
Congratulations also to Florence Chapman and Flora Courtney who came joint third in the 75m sprint representing Rugby & Northampton Athletics Club – Junior Club Championships. Florence also came third in the 150m sprint and the shot putt. Flora’s mum has, as many of you know, recently completed the Great North Run half marathon in 2 hours 41 minutes so clearly athletic prowess runs in the family!
Congratulations are also doubly due to Miss Mistry who recently heard that she had achieved Early Years Professional Status (EYPS) which entailed quite a lot of work simply to demonstrate the high standards she has always aspired to and achieved in her time with us. Quite a number on the course with her didn’t achieve the necessary high standards at the first time of asking which serves to emphasis just how well Miss Mistry has done. She has also just passed her driving test!
Please be sure to read, later in this newsletter, about this week’s sporting successes which are a source of great satisfaction to us all!
With best wishes.
Yours sincerely,
R.H. Marshall
Match Results
Netball
This has been a very busy week for the girls (and mums . . . . thank you all for your support).
On Tuesday two hockey teams played in the Princethorpe Festival. Everyone enjoyed playing matches on their huge AstroTurf pitches. A total of six matches played, four wins, one drawn, one lost. A great result.
Last night two netball teams played Bilton Junior School.
“A” team won 6-1
“B” team won 8-0
Well played everyone, good shooting!

Football
The boys played in a cup match against Hillmorton and won 8 – 0! As you can tell from the scoreline, it was a one-sided affair thanks to the excellent teamwork of our boys. The goals were scored by: Jack Fisher 3, Daniel Marshall 2, Tomas Marshall 2 and Dominic Bolton.
They are due to play in tournaments on the AstroTurf at Princethorpe on Thursday, 11th October and then on the grass at Dunchurch on Saturday, 13th. We are expecting these to be tougher tests but are confident that the boys will rise to the challenge.

Great North Run
I would just like to say a very big thank you to the parents who very kindly sponsored me in the Great North Run.
I raised £450 for The Prostate Cancer Charity.
It was a truly memorable day and as my objective was to finish before everyone went home, I was very pleased in achieving a
2 hour 41 minute time!
Thanks.

Nursery News
The children have enjoyed taking their “sounds” books home and have returned them with lovely drawings and pictures. They are eager to tell us what they have found and the letter each object begins with.
In keeping with our current theme of “ourselves” the children are looking at similarities and differences between themselves. We would be grateful if the children could bring in some baby/toddler photographs for “show and tell”.
Congratulations to Miss Mistry who has achieved Early Years Professional Status. Early years Professional Status helps highly skilled practitioners gain recognition for the high standards they consistently achieve.
